Few words about me

Basically, I began my design/teaching/video/arty career from an early age; but only really got into my stride several years ago with the wonderful feedback I receive from the people I work with either as clients on projects or as students to my teachings.
I prefer to treat everyone as an individual, and each project I do is catered to those I work with closely.

After the usual studies in media, I setup as a freelance self-employed businessman in 2002 and have acquired more knowledge and skills along the way to better serve myself and my clients, but also to diversify my capabilites to cover a wide area of expertise.

What I do

My primary work area is video production: such as camera work, editing, colour grading and sound editing - I am also highly proficient with Apple's Motion software for motion graphics, titling and 2D and 3D compositing for visual effects. When I'm not in front of the camera or busy editing, I am also a capable writer and have taken several scripts from inception to completion. You can check out my work here.

Having been in the webdesign business for well over ten years, I have created dozens of sites for as many clients - I prefer small sites which are created for the person or the small business that requires it, as I aim to provide a quality service and one-to-one experience to help a client get the most from their investment.

For the past few years I have been teaching on a regular basis in the fields of I.T. and media, and recently several animation courses in stop-motion. My main learning group has been with Adult Education and Youth Groups - with my involvement with a Disability Charity for the past few years, my skill set in Special Educational Needs and Disability Awareness (SENDA) has become competent and I intend to increase these skills academically.

Other than all that, I'm actively engaged in the local community and charities to better the place that I live in for everyone who lives near me.

SciFi Project

Poster created as part of the video project and live stage show that was premiered at the Caxton Theatre Grimsby. Several weeks of hard work went into the creation of both the script and final effects for the film; the live stage show that accompanied the production was warmly received and helped many of the then young actors grow into more capable performers in future pieces.

A Wizard's Tale - pt 2

Using the 2021 Art Gallery located in Scunthorpe; four young children wrote and created this piece in six hours over three days during the Youth Buzz Event.

Myself and Robin Smith of Focus-7 were enlisted to teach the kids animation and were pleasantly surprised at the eagerness and creativity of the group, who's average age was 12.

The Celluloid Experiment

My entry for the 2010 Meniscus Film Festival. I decided to create a music video akin to my favourite late night TV show of the 90's "The Trip". Where they used archive material to create the visuals to a space theme - to fit the competition criteria I kept mine to explore 40's to 60's American film experiments, whilst using a copyright free piece of contemporary music.

For those who'll want to know - I got the material from Archive.org's Prelinger Archives and used the Creative Commons search to find "Use to Abuse's" free track "I Want to Go!" - and to fit in with the Creative Commons license, none of the material is being used commercially - especially since I didn't win the competition ;-)
